Back in 1975, when I was a child, I came up with Beau Peep. To be honest, I never gave the title of the strip much thought. It was about the Foreign Legion...Beau Geste sprang to mind..."Beau Peep" seemed an easy step to make. It was really just a working title that sort of stuck. Thirty odd years on, given the way the strip has developed, what would you call it now? (Suggestions like "crap" will be ignored).
-
Neau Geste.
-
"John Postlethwaite" has a certain ring to it, but it may not be right for such a strip.
-
Well, you've created loads of strips between you, Heaps o' Peep would seem apt. Perhaps a modern vernacular could be used.
Yo, Beau, tell that dude Kettle
To put the pedal to the metal
And git us mo' Beau.
Word.
-
I've been sitting here looking at the screen for about five minutes now, got nothing. Can I be dismissed?

Peepmaster
(Switch "Peepmaster" for "Moron" - at least then we might have someone more intelligent.)
-
Sorry, Roger, were you saying something?
-
I don't think he was. You carry on. More rope?...

It's not a problem, Peter. Just a bit of banter, so don't worry. I'd have banned him ages ago had it been otherwise.

And he decided not to out of spite.

Welcome, Petal!

I thought that read "Beau Nigel" for a minute...
Hi, Petal.
Tarquin - Hi Sweetie.

I thought that read "Beau Nigel" for a minute...
Like there's much difference?
Hi, Petal.
Tarquin - Hi Sweetie.
You're just being provocative - where's my comma?
-
Someone's got to keep Mince alert!
-
Thank you Tarquin, Nigel.
I think I like Beau Nigel better :)
-
People always prefer me to Tarks. ;)
-
Petal - I think you'll be a good acquisition to our squad. How fitting that it's transfer-deadline-day.
You have to start right at the very bottom, you understand. You can be in charge of Mince.
-
I don't understand Peepmaster. What is transfer-deadline-day, and what does being in charge of Mince involve?

It's a football term, petal. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/default.stm
Being in charge of Mince involves keeping a certain contributor in check. Think "buffoonery" and "pilchards".
-
Pilchards as in Pilchard the cat?
-
Well, it rhymes with cat.

No! - tell me!
-
Gnat? Prat?
-
I was going to say that giving you the first two letters would be a PR excercise, so maybe you could work it out for yourself.
Terry Wogan's initials might have helped you further, Vulch.

Nope. I still can't think of a word that rhymes with cat.
