Title: Horace on Facebook and Twitter.
Post by: Roger Kettle on March 12, 2015, 08:17:54 PM
That heading may mean something to some of you. Andrew Christine's daughter, Kara, has dragged us into the world of Facebook and Twitter. She may have called us "fossilised idiots" at some stage. Apparently, Andrew and I will be contributing from time to time and I'm supposed to provide some funny stuff. There may be problems ahead.

Steady Roger, you'll be buying a mobile telephone next!
That's a great shot of Andrew drawing a Beau Peep strip.  Can't wait to see the photos of you slaving over a hot script book in your studio (or do you dictate to a secretary?).
I hope the Mirror plugs the Twirtter and FaceBook pages and will consider bring out a new Horace book.

Think of them a different versions of this forum, Roger.

Twitter is like micro-blogging, and I don't really use it, other that have my blog posts, and Facebook business page posts automatically tweet to it. It gets posts out to a wider audience, and means posts get more views, and followers.

This forum is like a house, with half a dozen rooms, each room being a section of the forum. "Outpourings" might be the bathroom, "Saloon Bar" could be the drawing room, etc. Facebook is a thousand times more intricate than that, and you tailor it to what you want to see, who you want to liaise with, etc.

For instance, you might want to "like" and "follow" Peter Noone and `herman's Hermits.

If you do, their posts will show on your timeline.

Maybe you'll want to follow Dundee Utd Fans page - https://www.facebook.com/DundeeUnitedFTD?nr (https://www.facebook.com/DundeeUnitedFTD?nr)

Have Diane as one of your friends? "Like" her, and her musing will appear in your stream too. https://www.facebook.com/diane.haskell?fref=ts (https://www.facebook.com/diane.haskell?fref=ts)

Like Vincent Van Gogh? Have a flow of his brilliant artworks appear as and when posted: https://www.facebook.com/vincentwillemvangogh?fref=ts (https://www.facebook.com/vincentwillemvangogh?fref=ts)

Enjoy "Horace" - https://www.facebook.com/amancalledhorace?fref=ts (https://www.facebook.com/amancalledhorace?fref=ts)

Maybe follow Bob Newhart too - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bob-Newhart/147547279204?fref=ts (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bob-Newhart/147547279204?fref=ts)

Or Andy Capp - https://www.facebook.com/WorldofAndyCapp?fref=ts (https://www.facebook.com/WorldofAndyCapp?fref=ts)

You make it what it is.

Thanks, Nige.  I'll expand a bit more on this after the weekend.

Don't fear it Roger. What's that expression? "The only thing you have to fear is fear itself."

I can imagine that in a Horace/ Mojo exchange, with suitable alteration.  ;D
