We need to all meet up for the 40th. Start planning now, and we may have a chance. There's a lovely pub just down the road from me. We can have a whip round for Diane's bus fares...
Congratulations...er...Beau!
-
A meetup would be cool. But the pub near me is much better than the pub near you.
-
I too, have a pub near me. We could do this by video link from the respective pubs !

Day One of a three-year plan, and it's all crumbling to dust already! >:(

Happy Birthday Beau [and thus Messrs Kettle & Christine].
Given the number of "connections" to the characters of Beau Beep it seems only fitting the celebration should take place in the Isle of Man, in addition to which it's such a ridiculously expense place to get to it would balance out the cost to everyone, i.e. a total rip off. In case of naysayers may I respectfully point out:
- The Isle of Man is the only place in the world that has a full size statue of Beau [I give you it does look a lot like George Formby]
- Our capital, Douglas, is twinned with Roger [if Rogers name was something unpronounceable and very similar to a town in Outer Mongolia]
- We have sheep, and sheep rhythms with Peep
- The Isle of Man has frequently been referred to as "Seventy thousand alcoholics clinging to a rock" [the headcount varies, people kept falling down, drifting off in the tide etc]
- I once knew a bloke called Dennis
Irrefutable evidence I think you'll find.
-
;D. I see we're using the 'completely made up' definition of 'connections'.

Had to I am afraid Mince, completely out of real ones, to be fair, Sheep does rhythm with Peep remarkably well, we do have a life size statue of George Formby [in Bronze] literally "Leaning on a lamppost" and the description of the Island is a well known one, at least locally. It's technically correct however to conclude the connections of these items to Beau Beep are a tad tenuous, in my defence I blame you, entirely.

World famous in the Isle of Man.

If it's good enough for the Baseball "World" Series...

I've never been to the Isle of Man. I was always worried about getting mown down by speeding motor bikes. It now transpires there are rhythmic sheep and alcoholics to worry about also, not to mention men of bronze clutching their little ukuleles. :-\
Where I come from, Douglas is what you call people bereft of a canine companion.

I've just stumbled across this. For some reason, there has been nothing to indicate "new posts" for this section on my laptop.
Anyway, thanks for the greetings. Actually, this IS a 40th anniversary of sorts. In 1975, when I was a boy, I came up with the idea of Beau Peep. As I've said often, Andrew wasn't too keen on the idea at the beginning. (He reckoned, reasonably, that it didn't have long-term potential). Then followed the couple of years rejection by every paper and magazine in Britain until The Star eventually stepped in and took the risk. What's the 40th anniversary? Ruby? Feel free to bombard me with rubies.

That would be the same place where they think that NATO is a nickname you give to a guy who lost his foot to diabetes?
