Can anyone explain to me why windows are so expensive? (I'm talking about the glass ones, not the computer wotsits).
The double-glazing in the room I use as an office is well past its best and I decided to get some quotes. Granted, it's a big window but, *!*! me, 4,000 quid for some glass and some pre-built PVC that takes half a day to install? Is this normal?

Bit of a commute, Nige. It's 8.50 a.m. at the moment and I have another lot coming at nine to give me a quote. I'm going to offer them a Beau Peep mug as part of the deal.

Who wants to know how much Roger paid for his window?

Our house needs a lot of repairs - the morgage is paid off this fall so then maybe after that...
Anyway for us it is worth driving down to the USA where windows are as low as one third the price and they have the best quailty Canadian wood for a fraction of the cost - we will probably take a low-boy down there when the time comes and fill 'er up.
