Apologies in advance for my presumptuousness ....
« on: November 18, 2016, 12:54:38 PM »
I've just discovered this great resource, and I'm looking for a specific cartoon from many, many, years ago.

It involved Egon's culinary skills (or lack thereof), and has the punchline  "the toast's boiled over again"...

It's for my daughter who has just almost set fire to her kitchen whilst hard boiling some eggs .... the pan has gone in the bin, as have the eggs!!!!!

Many thanks, in advance, for any kind assistance which you may be able to offer.

[MINCE: Edited only to change the font from 18pt back to normal, in case the size frightens Roger when he finally manages to get the lid of his laptop open.]

Welcome, TQV2000.

Hold fast - I'm sure the Marvellous Encyclopedic Mr Baker will be with you shortly. If anyone can help you, he can (unfortunately, I'm as much use as a chocolate teapot in this instance, but I enjoyed your post  :)).
I apologise, in advance.

Hello TQV2000, and welcome to the site  :)

Well, I couldn't find the strip you mentioned, but this one from October 1995 may be a little nearer to the mark as to your daughter's attempt at cooking eggs:

I'll keep looking for the toast strip, but you may be interested to know that a Beau Peep apron was produced showing Egon making toast:

You're very kind .... I'm sure it's about toast boining over though - that said, the one that you did find is perfect for my Daughter

Thanks so much

Welcome, TQV2000. (Rolls off the tongue, that name!)
I'm pretty sure we based the idea for that apron on a strip that had already appeared but if Rob Baker can't find it, then it probably doesn't exist.
Despite owning one of those aprons for 20 odd years, I've just noticed something for the first time. The caption reads "Will this damn toast never boil?" The bubbles rising from the pan would suggest that it is, indeed, boiling.
Andrew's fault again.

So you're saying you can boil toast?

Of course you can. You're obviously not much of a cook.

Ah, I see where the inspiration for the Beau Peep strip comes from now.

I apologise, in advance.
