Okay, I feel as if I'm the straight man here but how does a greyhound sleep?

I haven't listened to that in ages. I'd forgotten what a brilliantly savage song it is. It doesn't really help me with the greyhounds, but thanks anyway, Nige.

Yes, I am usually able to sense when one reply is necessary.

Growing up, my family had dachshunds as pets. We also had Siamese cats, and I have a Himalayan cat now, but I sense you do not want to know that since this topic is about dogs.

I am quite happy to talk about any pet.

My mother was a dog breeder and was involved with bulldogs basenjis and pekingese

I have had a St Bernard a German Shepherd and the two we have now.

That's very interesting, Peter. I'm sure you have some funny tales (no pun intended) to tell about dogs since your mother was a dog breeder.

My mom's friend decided to breed her registered Shiba Inus. Unfortunately, the woman didn't realize how much work and expense went into the breeding business. She thought all her dogs had to do was breed and the puppies would sell themselves right away. Naturally, this was not the case. She ended up selling two puppies for under the price she thought she would get, keeping one puppy which eventually had to be euthanized because of some degenerative disease, and six months later giving the other two puppies to family members. She had the female spayed and the male neutered shortly afterwards.

All my dogs are rescue dogs,
The St Bernard was going to be put to sleep for chasing chickens.
The collie was terrorised by the children in her first home and was given to the RSPCA at 1 year old.
The German Shepherd X was left in the back garden 24/7.
