Title: H1N1
Post by: Diane CBPFC on October 27, 2009, 09:31:14 PM
My boys have probably got the H1N1 flu – one third of the school is off sick, 97% of those tested were confirmed H1N1; Awards night is postponed. The health unit said if you have had flu like symptoms you've probably had it or have it as the case may be.

Here's hoping for a swift recovery, Diane.

And from me.
Despite the publicity, this does not appear to be a particularly severe strain of flu. Still----not pleasant.

Thanks guys, the boys have been sicker other years with colds and flu. One thing with this one seems to be the lingering tiredness. I think they are both going back tomorrow.

The lingering tiredness, theirs from the flu or yours from looking after them?  ;D

Hope you're all feeling better now.

Not really 100% yet but thanks for thinking of us.  ;D

A 50 year old man from town died so people are taking it a bit more seriously now.

Simmering on the stove is my flu-germ-buster sauce: One whole large onion, 1 whole bulb of fresh garlic, one can of diced tomatoes, I can of tomato sauce with a dash of Italian seasoning!  (To be served tonight over Italian sausages; brown rice with carrots, broccoli and red peppers.)

Glad to hear you're getting through this, Diane - hope it's not long before it's all behind you. As a 50-year-old man who has just today received notice from my local surgery that I should make an appointment for my free H1N1 flu jab (I had a little heart thing five years ago, so I get these things on the NHS), I'll be on the phone to them first thing in the morning.

That reminds me. I still haven't posted my waste-matter off.

(That must be the worst job in the world, opening their post!)

It seems it always gets snowy for Halloween and this year is no exception. Other years it was a nuisance when my daughter wanted to be princess or a fairy in lightweight outfits - this year she is a zombie which is ideally suited for cold weather - but now I don't want to go door to door with all the germy people in town.  ..0

I think the sauce is a flu-busting winner – so will put onions, garlic and tomatoes in what I cook tonight too.  ;D

I'm doing fish-cakes. I made the mixture last night, and it's in the fridge waiting to be formed, dipped in egg and bread-crumbs and fried.

Chicken breasts with green beens mixed into a tin of tomatoes with some bug-busting garlic thrown in.

It's imported from Korea, though...

Am I the only one who got that awful pun?

I think you might still be the only one, Colin. I don't get it - we're talking pig flu, not bird flu...aren't we?  ???
