Title: cameldung.com
Post by: Mince on August 29, 2010, 10:14:19 PM
The domain name needs renewing. It's £8.80 a year. I believe I paid for it last year, so either we get some kind of kitty going or it reverts back to www.board.beaupeep.co.uk (http://www.board.beaupeep.co.uk) (which is free).

It can be ordered for up to 9 years (£79.21).

Is the old one you mention the one that everyone didn't like because of what it provided (or didn't provide)?

I would be prepared to add to a kitty (but not mine - I add enough cat food, cat litter, toys, vets bills, etc already) to maintain this eminent forum as I get a lot of pleasure from reading and participating in it.

Bill, everyone else has decided to chip in £1000 each. If you could send me your £1000 by mail, I'd be grateful.

I can give you monopoly, Go for Broke, or chips.  That any good?  I can even email you the money, just like the last time.

Yes, Mince. I'm up for contributing to the kitty.
Let me know how much it works out to and I'll fax the money over.

Can't you put one of those treasure chests on the site for people to contribute?

We pay for this kind of thing out of the mug sales etc. I want to change my advert on the website pages anyway.

Well, it's going to expire on 11 Sept.

So, I have paid for this year as I purchased 4 mugs, four dice with no dots,  and a free pen holder.

Well done, Bill---you now own the site! You can impress the ladies by asking them if they want to see your camel dung.

I don't have a camel called Dung.  I do have a bell that goes dung! though.

What noise does your camel do then Bill?

Just a thought, but why do we need "cameldung.com". We already have BeauPeep.com. I suppose we should retain it as many people will have bookmarked it by now.

Also, who is hosting Beau Peep now? I now we had DC Hosting, who became Othello, last year, and who then became very expensive. So we moved to a new one Mince set up.

Guys and Girls (Jeez that sounds SO Jimmy Saville).

If it's ok with you I'd like to sponsor the next nine years for Kate, she loved this place and the loonies therein.

Mince just let me know how to pay, I can do cheque, Paypal etc etc.

Max, that's a really kind thought and generous gesture.

______________________________

We do have the funds for the domain registration and hosting, because it is usually relatively modest, and only became a bit excessive last year when we were with D_C Hosting, so Mince switched us away again to another server.

I don't have ANY control over either the name or the hosting, because Mince has assumed control, or even of FTPing web pages etc., but we still do have a bank account, with funds from retail sales, which cover this kind of thing, plus the annual yearly accountancy fees.

So I really just expect Mince to forward bills on to me and I can either pay them, or reimburse him.

We also still have a couple of large boxes of mugs and a few t-shirts.

When this thread started, I'd assumed it was some kind of joke. As you all know, I haven't a clue how this site is run but I'd assumed, as Nige said, that expenses were covered by any income we receive.
Max, that's a wonderful gesture which I really appreciate. Kate will always be remembered by me and others on this site. I purposely never referred to the anniversary of her passing because, as I recall, you and Diane were doing something privately. There is absolutely no need for you to contribute anything to the running of this site, Max. Maybe we can set up some daft section in her memory and I'd welcome any suggestions. When I say "daft", you know what I mean. I think she'd have loved that.
I miss her terribly.

Okay, here is what needs paying for each year:

www.beaupeep.com (http://www.beaupeep.com)
  - domain name
  - hosting

cameldung.co.uk (http://cameldung.co.uk)
  - domain name
  - hosting

The hosting is being done from my own business hosting site. Apparently the bandwidth and storage is free. No point in paying for hosting when my hosting company will give it for free,

The domain names need paying for, however.

I've just rechecked. As far as I can see we still have ownership of BeauPeep.com and can therefore pay directly for renewals on notification. Hosting was switched to HostPapa which Mince controls, after we had to switch from DC-Hosting, which suddenly became quite expensive with extra charges almost every month.

I have to admit that the main reason I relinquished control of the hosting to Mince was because of his expertise in automating the strip changeovers every weekend. I'd been doing it manually every weekend for quite a few years, and was really grateful for that.

Then I need to give you ownership of cameldung.co.uk (http://cameldung.co.uk).

I was willing to aid the cause by buying a T-shirt, but when I checked, the XL ones were "out of stock" (it was for a friend).

So let's get down to brass tacks - I'm happy to contribute, so (seriously) how much?

Love the idea of a memorial section for Kate, full of her beloved daftness (and thank you, Max, for your very generous offer). We'd have to use her name on the title though, or how would we tell it apart from the other collections of utter gibberish?

Nobody out there needs to pay anything! If Mince or Nige gets in touch with me privately, we'll sort out any payments that are requuired.

Did your bottom lip quiver as you said that last word?

It's working! How much shall we fleece him for?

I'm glad this is all on the verge of being sorted out.

I just wanted to say that I'm not going to pay anything, and I am in fact considering charging you all for the pleasure of my continued presence here.

Oh Jack, you are awful, but I would throw in a few loonies into the pot.

While things are getting sorted out - please change Roger's avatar's left eye back from a camel's rectum to the proper eye of Colonel Sanders.

Please unsticky my birthday thread as it is a bit embarrassing what with me not being the queen and all.

That's about it for requests from the CBPFC for the 2010/11 Beau Peep year.

Thanks,
Diane

I'm more than happy to chip-in if needed.

Roger have you asked your Boss if he wants to sponsor the site? I know he's just bought Channel 5 but surely he must have a few quid left.

I don't know. That perfume's quite expensive!
