Beau Peep first appeared in the Daily Star 34 years ago today. The run has not been continuous as the strip was dropped by the paper for about 15 months in the late nineties, before being brought back. During our absence, we appeared as a weekly in The People. I'm trying to work out how many strips Andrew and I have produced. Let's see...that's roughly 32 and a half years at 313 a year (six days a week)...15 months of Sunday strips...a few in the Sunday Express....
That comes exactly to......far too many!
Many thanks to all of you who have followed Beau Peep faithfully, unfaithfully or even smiled at a single cartoon. As the Americans say, preciate it!

I did the maths Roger, and it equals a lot. By the law of averages a funny one is imminent. ;D
Seriously, the joy has been in the reading. It is the funniest cartoon strip ever, it doesn't age and it will always be funny because it's crafted superbly. Anything that can make you laugh out loud is a treasure as far as I'm concerned. Thank you both for BP.

Yes, thanks again Roger. The Vultures, Egon, Sarge, etc always have good lasting humour. There is still a worn out strip showing Egon talking about spring cleaning, also making a list "A is for a bottle of Sherry ...". Soo funny.

Shit! 34 years! I left school in the May of '78 as I'd already secured an apprenticeship as an apprentice electrician starting in September. I was still on the same job, my 1st, when that cold November morning a new paper hit the shops!
Beau Peep.............hooked from day one!
Thanks Roger, some of the strips are genius, and like Sandy said, to laugh out loud is testament to its brilliance.
Long may it continue.

Many, many thanks, guys. As I've said before, when we began at The Star, we were given a six-month contract and I honestly didn't expect to be there any longer than that. 34 years is just ridiculous!
-
How come none of the characters have aged any in 34yrs? ???
-
They are in a time vortex, unable to leave until Dennis gets another brain cell.
-
Do you and Andrew go out for a nice meal on the anniversary? Do you at least send him some flowers?
-
Yes, a beauquet.
-
What an abeauminable pun.

Blimey - no wonder you look so old, Roger.
Congratulations on getting so far with such a brilliant strip.

I still remember the launch of Beau Peep and how the difference in humour hit home, it was a breath of fresh air and I bought the Star specifically for it. Well done, 34 years doing one successful strip is a lovely story, I'm glad it happened to you.

Cheers, Malc. Much appreciated.
