Title: A little late but...
Post by: Rob Baker on January 09, 2013, 02:56:08 PM
...Happy New Year everyone.

I've been a bit poorly lately (I was in hospital most of December) but I'm on the mend now.

So, what've I missed?

In no particular order:

Roger punched some carol singers, Malc wanted to punch some egomaniacal football-type people, Diane didn't punch anyone that we know of, but she did institute a virtual gift-giving scheme over Christmas (spoiler: you got a shop). We learned that some people don't like film trilogies, and that most of our news years resolutions involve either photography or going to the toilet (but fortunately not both). Diane has since embarked on a stand-up comedy tour of Canada (1 venue only) and I think that just about brings you up to speed.

Happy New Year, and here's hoping you're back to 100% very soon.

Sorry to hear that you were in hospital for so long Mr. Baker - they should provide internet in this day and age, for it is as necessary as breakfast.

I took up photography a couple of months ago when I got my first "real" camera, I posted moose photos here around xmas. This month I'm onto squirrels. It keeps me sane whilst the snow is thigh deep.

Rob, sorry to hear about your illness and glad to hear you're on the mend. And I was complaining about a ten day flu....
Lovely photo, Diane. The snowflake on the squirrels's nose is just perfect and makes the picture.

Nice to have you back, Sir. Hope that you are now well and truly on the mend, and for the record, I don't mind film trilogies...I just dislike ONE film being split into three for money making purposes. So there.

 >:(

PS...Is that a cocaine snorting squirrel?

Thanks Roger, of course I arranged for that perfect snowflake  ;) (you can tell by how bushy the tail is and how bright the eyes are that that particular squirrel is not on cocaine - may be on a little sugar high though from the xmas cookies).

What I don’t like about trilogies is when they come out with a boxed set say in April, and then come out with an extended boxed set just in time for xmas. That is like mugging your grandma or somebody else that likes you.

Welcome back, Rob. Hope you're on the mend.

You missed me apparently swearing twice. The same word, inoffensive in the UK, which apparently is as bad as naughty words, across the pond.

So it was like "fanny"? the other way round. An inverted "fanny" can cause a lot of problems.

Why would a "ynnaf" be troublesome?   ???

I'm not sure James III actually had to audition for his role in becoming King.

It's one of those words that doesn't actually exist. A bit like "proportentudinal".

No!... A negative used to express dissent, denial, or refusal, as in response to a question or request. Or is it?   ;D

I had suspected that Vulch was God ever since I found out she didn't have a telly.

Apart from G-strings...that would just look silly.   :o

And that would probably be painful.

A coat of creosote might look best on "Shedders", although not inside-out.

A sort of Shed-Man-Tan? I like it. It has an attractive ring to it, as they say.   <-

Just off to phone JML.

I'm insulted. I've never been rambling in my life.

And I don't go rambling! Maybe a little meander now and then, but not rambling.

It depends how far apart the pubs are. Trekking might be more appropriate in some circumstances.

Whilst still at home as a spotty teenage oik, it was exactly 35 paces door to door to the local! :P

Big bonus, it was downhill on the way home!

Now my local is half a mile away.......progress eh! ..0

I grew up in a small hotel in the Highlands so I lived IN a pub! Like so many Scottish villages, Dalwhinnie was bypassed by a new road and business dwindled until, basically, the hotel went bust but I have extremely fond memories. Talking about that, an old friend of mine has a music video on YouTube which features the old place. Ian C. Campbell used to come up North from Clydebank with his band and we had some daft, but memorable, nights in Dalwhinnie, Kingussie, Aviemore and various other Highland outposts. The song is called "Where Have All The Good Times Gone" and is a nostalgic look at those good ol' days. Ian is in his late sixties now and has suffered ill health all his life but still has this incredible energy and passion for music. I envy him that.
I'll try and put a link on here but will probably make an arse of it.

Okay, you have to click but there it is. Ian has been in and out of hospital all his life but still writes and performs as much as he can. These videos (there are more on YouTube under Ian C. Campbell) were made last year. One called "Queen of the Morning" has brilliant lyrics.
