Title: Happy Birthday, Diamond Lil.
Post by: Roger Kettle on March 08, 2008, 11:10:52 PM
Today, my sister reached the grand old age of.....well, let's just say she doesn't look it. Or act it.
Anyway, we've just had a very pleasant evening and she's just toddled off to bed. When you get to thet age, the Cointreau nightcap is a killer.

Happy Birthday Diamond. Glad you had a good day. I may be over in Dundee soon, so we could maybe get Roger to buy us all drinks.

Happy Birthday, Diamond Lil; you must be pushing the forty mark if you were the first to go to bed!  :D :D :D

Thank you all for your good wishes and a special thank you to Diane who surpassed herself this year. I had a wonderful day until late on the Cointreau evening when my brother decided to watch a thing on television where 'stars' of today sang songs of yesteryear...'Sweet Caroline' was naturally one of the classics but on this occasion was performed by a woman...and a bit too butch for my liking, I have to add.  She murdered the song and my brother suggested, nay insisted, that she sounded as if she had a good voice and probably found it hard to sing something composed of 3 chords...is it any wonder I went to bed early?? :-\

Jings!  Totally overwhelmed !  It's sooo much fun being an OAP...even Mr Darling made my day by announcing I'm to get ?250 this December towards fuel costs..not sure about the other ?1200 needed annually to keep this modest mansion vaguely warm

Was it an '0' or a '5' birthday? I took an '0' retirement and I was also pleased about getting the ?250 winter fuel supplement (not so pleased that it's only for this year and next year it goes back to ?200).

Have you had your tax demand in yet? I received mine on my 60th birthday, before I'd even received my pension!

It was an '0'.  Tax demand?  I'm still working so waiting to see what I'm actually left with at the end of this month :-\

Apparently, the tax department work out how much the pension department are giving you, calculate how much you should be able to live on, then tax you on the difference. Which means, of course, you need to keep a little by each week so that come December when the tax demands/advertising come flooding through your door/inundate your TV programmes, you have enough to pay your legal obligations.

Why the two departments can't get together and just give you a pension THEY reckon you can live off.....

It's great having really old people on here. Makes me feel young and invigorated. It's the weekend too. No wonder I'm in a good mood.

Yes, but bear in mind, you young, hip, bird chasing ********'s; you'll be old one day, and I have the feeling that it's in the not too distant future........  :D :D :D :D

Yes, Peeps. 'Hip' goes with perpetually young blokes who use quaint words like 'birds' and 'bints' when referring to the female of the species; the same words that the young teddy boys used to use when I was a girl.

Oh, I might hang around for a while.  :)

I've already said "Cheerio". I said it on behalf of everyone on here. It's binding. There's a certain honour that's acquired from belonging to this forum, and your banishment should be taken like a man, not a lentil. It's permanent. ::)

I'm not going to argue with that.

Actually, I am going to argue with that. I said someone "with the IQ of a lentil". I didn't actually say that person was a lentil.

How do you test the IQ of a lentil? Are you being lentilist?
