Title: Can you check this out for me?
Post by: Malc on June 21, 2013, 10:58:46 AM
I just finished designing and directing the look and animation on this client's site.

Would you guys mind clicking on the animation top right and report if it's working correctly? The site only went live yesterday

When the black hawk starts flying over the grid lines, it's a bit stoppy starty, then it seems to be OK after 10 seconds or so.

"Whether you are a company with an established history of trading or a new player in the industry; trading across the globe, the world can be a confusing place."

should this semi-colon be there? (Jut asking, I don't use them very often so I'm not sure. )

Otherwise, it seems good to me....

Worked fine for me, Malc. Impressive and eye-catching. Only thing I noticed was a double shadow as the hawk flew over the coast...but that's being picky. Water was particularly good and the light on the wing tips was a great contrast to the dark of the setting. Loved the sound.

Must show son, he's doing 3D Comp Animation at Uni.

Done on Maya, perchance?

I've certainly seen worse.

I thought the funniest bit was when the first vulture picked up the container - (element of surprise always works), but if I'm nit-picking, I'd question why there are two vultures mating at the end, but maybe that's just me.

To summarise - overall an excellent effort. I prefer Roger's more cartoony style of drawing, as I feel yours look more serious, and maybe intimidating, in this instance, although it was dramatic. Would I use this company to buy a budgie? Probably not.

I clicked on the arrow in the top right box and nothing happened. There is a series of still shots on the main screen going on all the time---is this the animation or am I missing something? The still images that I mentioned are impressive enough but, the way others are talking, it would appear that there's something else I can't access.

Vulch, I think grammatically it's sound, but even if it isn't, I'm not taking it back to thye client, it was murder getting this job finished.

Roger, It may be that you have the "wrong" video player as your default. I don't know for sure, because I am only a half yard ahead of you in the techno-idiot ranks. I'm having trouble watching it myself, but others seem to be able to access it with ease.

Peeps, it's not a vulture, it's a hawk. A hawk that looks like an eagle/pigeon cross.

Yes, it's Maya, Sandy, but this job didn't stretch its capabilities one iota.

Roger - do you have DSL (or cable), or do you employ a dial-up connection, via a modem, to link up with your ISP?

I was thinking dial-up might explain the problem. It could be a buffering issue.

Perhaps he needs to update his flash.

I've decided to change the subject and ramble.
Peeps, have a great time out East. How long are you away for?
Diane, I hope you haven't been affected by those terrible floods in Alberta. Looks really bad in Calgary at the moment.
A horse called Gold Beau won today. Not a great price but I had a tenner on it.
There are several photos of my daughter (Louise) in tha current issue of Shout magazine. She's a journalist with them and went to Los Angeles recently to interview the cast of the Teenwolf TV series.
(Hopefully everyone's forgotten about extensions, flashes and buffering).

He hasn't got a Firefox-in clue.   ;D

It could be router setting configurations. The MTU setting can lead to performance issues if set too high or too low, and not to the ISP recommendations. Roger, you should carefully record any changes you make to your router's configuration so that you can undo them later if necessary.

Wireless connections, internet worms, and running background applications can also cause issues.

We'll do our best to have a good time! Four weeks. :-)

Roger, have you got a Chrome extension?

Peeps, that's such a rude question; whatever Roger's extension is made of is personal and not for the hoi polloi on this forum!

Works fine on iPad so not a flash issue. Wait for the whole thing to load and it works a treat.

Very impressive. 8)
