I'm just back from a couple of beers with Rob Baker, who is on a tour of Scotland at the moment with some friends from his native Somerset. We sat outside a harbour pub in Broughty Ferry, looked across the River Tay and raised a glass to all our absent friends on this site. And I mean absent. My God, it's been quiet here. Anyway, we had a fine time and it was good to catch up after, we reckon, about ten years since our last get-together.
That's it, really. There were hardly any naked women or sheep involved.
-
I won't believe it until I hear Rob's side of the story.
-
I left him in the pub with his friends. They had just ordered several bottles of wine so I doubt if there will be "his side of the story".
-
So you could be lying and just name dropping.
-
Broughty Ferry in the sunshine sounds great, Roger. Sorry the sheep didn't turn up. They can be a let down.
See you in Rothesay soon.

Sorry the sheep didn't turn up. They can be a let down
Especially the inflatable ones.

It sounds as though you speak from experience, Malc. :D

I had a bright red jumper once. I always wondered...
-
Heard about red herrings but that's ridiculous.
-
Of course, I know where my scarf came from....

We had a great night (and quiet compared to ones we had in Glasgow, but that's another story). The hotel was a bit dodgy but they let us stay up late playing pool. All told we had 3 nights in Glasgow, 2 in Edinburgh and just the one in Dundee - all right in the middle of a scorching heat wave. Glasgow is a brilliant place and knocked all my preconceptions about it right out the window. In my view, Edinburgh isn't a patch on it so I whole heartidly recommend a stay there to anyone going up to Scotland.
It was great to see Roger again too (and, despite what anyone else says, he doesn't look a day over 83).

That's the last time I buy you a pint, Baker.

Were you feeling ill Roger, buying someone a pint.

So it's been another ten years: is there another get-together sorted with Rob?
