Title: Today's Andy Capp
Post by: The Peepmaster on July 02, 2008, 03:47:39 PM
I bought The Philippine Star today, as I remembered it carries Andy Capp as one of its cartoon strips. It was one I saw in The Mirror about 2 months ago. I feel cheated...

I'm flying back to Manila tomorrow then changing planes to Cebu. The adventure continues...

I've started uploading a few pics online: http://picasaweb.google.com/nigel.sutherland/Philippines2008 (http://picasaweb.google.com/nigel.sutherland/Philippines2008)

Incidentally, as you'll see from the photos, much of the real Philippines (outside of Manila), is quite under-developed. We travelled by tricycle last night to a restaurant that was down several unllt roads. Our driver went off the road at one point, it was so dark, and his headlight was dim. The only light you could see was from distant stars, and from the glow of mobile phones the locals were using to text themselves!

Do you mean that the main door of this restaurant opened into more than one road? Is it owned by Doctor Who?

Our driver went off the road at one point,

Then I suggest that you stop pointing. It must distract the driver no end.

it was so dark, and his headlight was dim.

I bet it was not as dim as you.

The only light you could see was from distant stars, and from the glow of mobile phones the locals were using to text themselves!

Surely they would be texting other people. They can't be as sad as you.

Great photos, Peeps---I'm really envious. I couldn't help thinking that the seaview at Badjao looked very like a Scottish loch although I trust the water is a bit warmer.
Please note how I ignored Mince's post.  ..0

Children, children. Isn't it past your bedtime yet?

I've been to bed and just got up. I'm not 100% sure of the time difference. I need to find out. It's eleven minutes past seven here. What time is it with you?

It's 06:20 on my computer clock. You'll have to look at the time this message was posted to get the time on the forum.

For a man who uses Fermat's Last Theorem as his avatar, that's unquantifiably sad.

I once thought I was the square root of two, but everyone told me I was being irrational.

Although, Reductio Ad Absurdum suits you even better.

Admit it; you stole this out of a Harry Potter novel, didn't you!

It's just gone 11pm here now. I've moved on to Cebu. Does that make a difference? What time is it in Scotland?

Well, Sam has gone out for the evening to eat a posh meal with some friends, so I decided to cook a magnificent Mexican Welsh Rarebit, washed down with the finest shandy. How about you, Roger?

I rustled up some pasta with chicken, mushrooms and onions. My wife's out tonight as well. Fancy a game of pool?

I would, Roger, but I've got the kids.

Anyway, I've not long ago had a call from Sam to say her front suspension spring has just disintegrated and she's now waiting for the AA man to arrive and bring her and her car back to the village, before she even had a sniff at the posh nosh. Looks like I might need to get the grill pan out again.

Sam's front suspension spring has disintegrated? And she's waiting for a man from Alcoholics Anonymous? My God, you people in rural England lead bizarre lives.

Thanks, Roger, I can always rely on someone on here to drag me out of the grumps on a cold July morning in old Sydney town.  ;D

I'm now staying at the Cebu Hilton. I've graciously decided to visit this board and speak to plebs.

We only have one of those on this board and I believe he's on holiday.

Mince, I'm sorry, but some of your recent comebacks have been really disappointing. "We only have one of those on this board and I believe he's on holiday". What are you, a girl? To be honest, I think you've stopped trying and that simply isn't good enough. Insult like a man, man!

Correction: one pleb on holiday and another with the hump.

I think it's all the talk about football: the posts go all blurry, though this is probably due to the speed of the scrolling.

You see, this is what I'm talking about. "Correction:one pleb on holiday and another with the hump". OO, it's like a dagger in my heart! I looked up to you, Mince. You coulda been a contender.

OKy, I admit it - I'm on holiday.  ..0

I'm now on Bohol, which is a great island. Caught a ferry from Cebu to get here. Feel quite rough today, and was feverish in the night. Picked up a nasty virus I think, but hopefully it won't last long. Same thing happened last year, and was a short lived thing. I think it must be to do with the heat, and dehydration etc.
