Outpourings / Re: Trump.

Keep in mind that Americans elected this guy (or allowed him to be elected) twice.

The US has lost its moral high ground, the trust in its institutions, its leadership on the world stage, and the idea that it is a nation governed by laws, not men.

I no longer spend anywhere American (Starbucks, Costa, McDonalds, Morrisons) or on anything American. I also no longer watch American films or programmes.

Our family have had great fun discovering films and television from Canada, Australia, Japan, France, and other European companies.

I never knew just how pervasive and awful American culture was until Trump, so I guess I have him to thank for that.

Since then a pair of Canada Geese and a beaver has shown up. The snow is slowly retreating here finally starting to feel like spring.

It seems like most of the whole world has had enough of this land and resource grabbing murderous strife. I actually am hopeful that it will stop.

There were a lot of hares around where I lived up in the Highlands and they would turn pure white when the Winter came. Sadly, this didn't protect them from the local gamekeeper's shotgun. He was very fond of hare pie.
Happy Earth Day!

The Snowshoe (Varying) Hares showed their faces this Earth Day, looking for anything green. They vary in colour with the seasons.

There is a lot more hope since your first post. Things could still go either way, but I see so many people of goodwill coming together and making a stand for humanity and the planet.

The latest update, Diane, is that my sister will have surgery later today. As far as I can gather, some kind of partial hip replacement will be involved. I truly hope that this will finally end the awful time she's been having.
As for your question about whether I still have ideas for comic strips, well, not often. Occasionally, something will pop into my head which I think would have been ideal for a Beau Peep strip but, mostly, I'm just happy to have given up thinking!

Does this mean that DL is waiting for a correcting surgery?  Send her our best wishes.

I once lost my voice, it was quit humbling. Now that you have retired do you still not have funny thoughts go through your head that you wish you could make into strips?

Its been a very long winter, still a foot of snow on the ground - hard to believe that kids will be playing soccer in only a month and this snow will finally be gone.

These past months I have been lost in the world of Westeros, after watching a Knight of the Seven kingdoms, I finally got around to watching the first two seasons of The House of the Dragon for the first time, then I read "Fire & Blood" and "The Rise of the Dragon". Now I am back re-watching GoT. It is a shame this doesn't translate into life skills.

Apologies for my long absence. You know the old saying---if it's not one thing, it's another...
My sister is back in hospital. After being in severe pain since the middle of November, she was finally taken in for an x-ray and scan. This has revealed that the plate that was inserted to mend her broken hip has been constantly rubbing on the bone. I can't begin to comprehend how she managed to cope with that. All it takes to floor me is a bout of the sniffles. Talking about that, I was hit by another bug and ended up feeling crap and losing my voice for a week. I thought it best not to complain to my sister.
I've just realised that this year sees the tenth anniversary of Beau Peep coming to an end (after 38 years, I think) so it's also the tenth anniversary of me becoming an ex-cartoonist. I have no regrets. I had a good career. Looking back over the years when I was writing Beau Peep, A Man Called Horace and Andy Capp, I'm just relieved I managed to retain my sanity. Well, most of it.
Okay, that's all for now. Hopefully, a degree of normality will return and I will pop in here more often. Be safe in this increasingly crazy world!
