To be fair most people don't celebrate these minor holidays here much either.
Groundhog Day is easy, stand a sausage up in a mound of mash and give them a mustard face to enjoy eating while you watch Bill Murry's Groundhog Day.
It is possible I have spent a few decades too many isolated in the bush.

Happy Year of the Snake everyone.
I love this mad dash of mid-winter holidays: Robbie Burns, LNY, Groundhog Day, Valentine's, Family Day weekend (ice fishing). I like to have a theme to decorate and cook for, at my age its better than thinking up something myself.

My hubby scared them off when he took scraps down to the compost, he saw a mother and calf. I just saw the footprints.

She has a book with pictures of them. I glanced at one and asked "Is that a swordfish?" She gave me a withering look and answered "It's a narwhal."

Then it's time to make plasticine bananas for her stuffed monkey, followed by a game of hide and seek. Then I sleep for two hours...
I hear you, Roger. These are the rewarding times for the likes of us, finally paying off after years of relentless hard labour at the coal face... staring out of windows, creating daft wee cartoons.
