In Australia
« on: December 17, 2008, 07:02:29 PM »
I just read this story on the BBC website. It was the very last sentence that got me to post it here. You've got to admire the guy's nerve!
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

You have to admire the man's consistency if nothing else. I once read that Quantas are the only major international carrier that has never had an accident causing loss of life. Perhaps some more rigorous staff vetting might prolong that enviable record  :-\

I just found it so funny. Maybe it's just me.

Yes, I heard that about Quantas. Mind you, they came close to a disaster in July when a plane en route to Australia had to make an emergency landing in Manila. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/7526704.stm

I'm surprised that they didnt try and trace the problem from that flight back to this guy.
It would be stretching it a bit given the year's time difference, but it's worth a try eh?

Actually, Qantas have had a lot of incidents in the last year or so - the press may just be reporting them more, though.  I don't think there's been any loss of life, but certainly there were a few injuries  a couple of months ago when a Qantas plane had to make an emergency landing in Western Australia after it lost altitude and dropped very quickly due to a computer failure.  They were all after this guy had left.

This was reported in our local newspaper yesterday, because he used to live down the road.  Just outrageous that he got away with it for so long.

Yep, poor old Quantas have had a hard few months of it, and once the press get onto you (the Oz press especially, because they have NOTHING else to report) they won't get off.

That resemblance between you and the Emmerdale bloke is amazing, Peeps. He's like your less good-looking twin.
