Is anyone even trying...
« on: January 16, 2012, 07:22:27 PM »
to eat well and excercise yet this year?

We are eating all kinds of fancy salads at lunch time - it takes about an hour to have lunch: wash the veggies, cut them up and assemble them in an attractive way and then it takes So long to chew all those veggies. There has to be a better way.

And Brrrr! winter finally hit Alberta -28C - they stop the school busses at -30.

Fried egg bap and a custard-filled doughnut for me. Quick, simple and deadly - love it.

Temperature dipped to -4 this morning. I fleetingly thought about emigrating... but not to Canada.
I apologise, in advance.

Thankfully, we've had nothing like the winter of last year. Twelve months ago, we had just ended six weeks of snow, ice and minus temperatures. So far, the white stuff has passed us by and long may it continue.
As for diets and fitness regimes, well, I plan to lose seven or eight pounds before the end of April. That's when I'm heading to Montana and I'll need some room for those American breakfasts. I still wear trousers with a 32" waist but this is mainly due to a generous interpretation of that size by the nice people at GAP. The bit that is starting to overhang the waistband is the concern. All I need to do is beat my record of four press-ups.

Fried egg bap? Now is this a bap that has been soaking in egg and then fried (French toast) or is this a fried egg on top of a cold bap.

Not that I care of course as these salads are tops.

In America they have a name for the belly part that hangs over the belt "muffin top" - so if those cowboys in Montana say anything like "sweet muffin top" to you, rest assured, they are not trying to pick you up they just want to start a fight.

I'm trying to work out if this is reassuring.

In the military, this is known as an egg banjo (why, I have no idea).  Fry an egg and make sure that the yolk is mixed up in the white a little and fully cooked.  Then place between two slices of bread or in a bap.  It;s even better with buttered bread and tomato sauce (or brown) and a little bacon, sausage.  Stop short of putting baked beans in, though.

I suppose you have to mix the yolk a little to stop it exploding all over the Vicar's surplice - if you're having it with a Vicar who's already dressed for Evensong. Egg yolks would leave a nasty stain on bleached white linen, I'm sure.

Where did the vicar come into this? Was there a humorous misprint, since eradicated, that spawned your vicar reference, Peeps? Or is there in fact a huge Vicar item in a previous post that only an idiot could miss, in this case me?  ???

Where did the vicar come into this?

It was a f'rinstance. I was envisaging a scenario where white apparel was involved. He could have come from Chipping Sodbury, but it's not entirely relevant to the thread.

Fortunately, the military wear camouflaged clothing.  This is primarily to hide food stains, such as egg yolk.  Incidently, these stains also help in reducing the thermal signature and enhances camouflage properties.

Egg Banjos taste better when the egg yolk is mixed with the white.
