My own father once told me he didn't believe in "blood relationships", asked me to call him Jim, and described himself as my progenitor. Y'gotta laugh! Did I mention he was a child psychologist?
I apologise, in advance.

I was his progeny. He would usually do me the courtesy of my full, unabridged Christian name, however, and never called me 'progeny' in public. Over-familiarities, like 'son' or 'lad' were never used, nor were pet names. Shame, really - I always wanted to be called Rover.
I apologise, in advance.

Come, Rover.  Sit.  Good boy, now roll over.  Who's a good boy, then?
