A Young Man Blogs (1967).
« on: July 06, 2007, 08:51:02 PM »
June 23rd 1967.
I AM SIXTEEN TODAY! BRILLIANT! This means I can legally smoke but I guess I still won't be doing it in front of the old man and lady.
"A Whiter Shade Of Pale" is still Number One which is also brilliant. I'm seeing Alana tonight and we have decided to make this "our song". I hope she wears her trouser suit tonight---she looks fab in it. I've just realised I'm also old enough to get married!!!! Maybe I'll ask Alana tonight!!! Actually, that's not a bad idea. I love her and she loves me and there's no way we'll ever split. I'm seriously thinking about this!!!!!
Had to take a break from the diary for a moment. My stupid sister came in to ask if I'd seen her Richard Chamberlain L.P. !!!!!! I said "Oh,yeah, I've been listening to it all night." It takes her a while to realise when I'm being sarcastic.
What to wear tonight when I meet Alana? I think I'll play it safe. Bell-bottom jeans, flowery shirt, waistcaoat, beads and my bowler hat with the stick-on daffodils. One day, I'm going to go to San Fransisco. FLOWER POWER!!!
Now that I'm sixteen, I also have to look to the future. Luckily for me, I've always known that I'm going to be a journalist. And I'm going to write serious, political stuff as well. None of that trivial nonsense that has started to appear in papers.
PREDICTION: By the year 2007, I will be famous for ending the Vietnam War because of my brilliant writing!!!!

Roger, it's something we all go through. Try not to look at any female under the age of 23 for longer than 10 seconds, and resist the urge to rush out and buy an 800cc Kawasaki. You're doing fine!
I apologise, in advance.

Mince - nobody loves a cheeky young upstart.
I apologise, in advance.

1967, I'm eleven.

That rhymes.

I'm living in Maryhill, Glasgow. I go to North Kelvinside Secondary Modern. Violent, depressing.
You want to know how depressing?

That Wolsley parked outside might even be my dad's car. It's a long shot, I don't think he ever came to the school, but it looks just like it.

I'm getting packed for 2 months in the States.  Checked I've got my Greyhound ticket...I'm taking Route 66 to Los Angeles...maybe I'll bump into Richard Chamberlain!!

I was eight, and really knacked off that the sex, drugs and rock & roll 60s were going to be over before I was old enough to enjoy them.

How far do we need to go, Mincey?
I apologise, in advance.

That's a Odd coincidence I was rushing to the hospital to see my second child.
I even got let off work to go wasn't that nice of the boss. He expected me back by the next morning.
Guess that makes me old but maybe wise only time will tell.
The child was large at two foot when born that is the size of the cots they put them in.
how weird
