Being a Father.
« on: March 10, 2007, 09:01:17 PM »
My 19 year-old daughter is about to go out for the evening. Wearing a hanky for a skirt, crimson lipstick and enough eye shadow to black out the moon, she asked me how she looked. My answer---"like a cartoon hooker"---has not gone down well. What does a father do? Two minutes ago, this kid was leaving out carrots for Rudolph. Forgive me while I gently sob.

.... What does a father do?

You pray you don't become a grandfather before the year is out. I'm sorry, but you did ask, and I've been there.
I apologise, in advance.

Oh, Lordie. Tarky, next time you're up North, we need a beer and a hug.

Did you find out where they were going? If I were you I would stalk them.

In all seriousness, you can?t judge a person?s level of promiscuousness by her dress.

Being fully covered doesn?t mean one suddenly has superior morals. Hitler, for instance, was very conservative in his clothing choices.

...but I would still stalk her.

Sounds good to me, Roger. Just in case I may have been misunderstood though (and hopefully adding a note of comfort for you), when I said I'd been there (and to a certain degree I still am - my three older daughters being 22, 21 and 19), so far the prayers have worked and I am yet to actually be a grandfather.

All three have steady, long-term relationships now as well...so any minute now............
I apologise, in advance.

I might outrank you two, having a twenty five year-old.

Yes, mine went through the tiny skirt, heavy make-up and hooker stilettos phase, but when all's said and done he didn't turn out too bad.
