Fowler to Oz?

It's been reported in the Australian football press (haven't checked the UK press yet) that Robbie Fowler is coming to play for one of our "A" League's brand new clubs, the North Queensland Fury.

We have had "guest" players here occasionally, but they only stay a few games, pick up the dosh, then disappear. I believe Dwight Yorke stayed a full season, and he was class. Robbie Fowler will have a phenomenal effect on the league, you won't believe the increase in ground attendances when he plays, that's how much this country needs players of real ability.

I was astounded to hear that Ian Ferguson was the manager of Queensland Fury. I didnt realise he was still involved in the game over there, but then the only info we ever get about Australian football is when a former Premiership player heads out for a swansong in the sun.
Perhaps some kind of mass exchange program with European and Australian clubs might improve the following in a more permanent way.

What is the Australian public opinion regarding the 2018/2022 world cup bid? Is it popular? Sepp Blatter seems keen for it go down under (which means it'll probably happen due to his cronies voting for what he wants) so it may well be successful.

He didn't do much when he went to Cardiff, then Paul Ince at Blackburn signed him, but no trees were pulled up there.

He was a talented player at one time, but lots of people move to Oz once they're over the hill, and not just in football.

At his peak, Fowler was an awesome talent and, without question, the most natural goalscorer in England. Before he went to Cardiff, he was desperate to sign for Rangers (he used to go to their games at every opportunity) but they decided to knock him back. I suppose that says a lot about his fitness levels but, if he can get himself together, I still back him to be a huge success in Australia.

Why was Steve Bull never signed for a top division club? When I was a youngster I used to marvel at his goal scoring record which I kept up to date with in Shoot magazine. Then he scored for England against Scotland in the Rous cup in 1989 and I didnt like him anymore.
