Brrr - it's cold
« on: March 10, 2009, 03:40:02 PM »
We had a "bus day" today - that means it was too cold for the busses to run at -36C + windchill. The bus driver was on the road when she heard the news as busses usually don't get cancelled when it is warmer than -40C.

But it's March and I have had enough.

Let's all think of warm things to cheer me up.

That was a typo, wasn't it, Diane?

Thanks Peeps - nothing like a little sexism to get the blood boiling. I feel warmer already.

Burning effigies of sexist pigs may also help, Diane...plus you get the great smell of good old-fashioned bacon into the bargain.
I apologise, in advance.

Actually, when I used to be a bus-conductor, they were just starting to have women bus-drivers.

It was great seeing the reactions of passengers as they got on!

Then one became Prime Minister.  ..0

That is a cool story Peeps. Maggie Thatcher was so inspired by your bus conducting under a woman driver she went on to rule the country.

Just imagine what she could have done with her life if she had met you during your Lollipop Man years!

I was never a REAL Lollipop man, Diane!  ..0

I loved my Bus Conducting year or so. I had my own ticket machine and fare guide. (Also a uniform of course). I did it after leaving school for a couple of Summer holidays, and also for much of a year when I finished a college course early, before commencing another one. Birds used to love seeing me in uniform, and I got asked out by one excited young passenger.

Gosh! These three-year-olds are very forward.

What a disappointment that is Peeps - like many women - I have certain fantasies about Lollipop men.

Peeps, all that last post needed was a guffaw from Reg Varney and a "right li'l rayvah" from the bloke who looks like Tom Petty's lecherous older brother.

Diane, I forgot to ask how my moose was doing. Has the cold weather brought it back to your garden? On a slightly different note, I was reading recently about another Bigfoot sighting in Canada. Apparently, this timid creature has a rather pungent odour so I thought I'd warn you. If you're standing at your back door, enjoying the view, and your nostrils are suddenly filled with a strange, strong perfume, move back indoors slowly and slide the bolt into place.

Because Mince may have found out your address.  :o

It was already running through my brain... An excellent post none-the-less. Not sure how rancid haddock can venture so far inland mind, but let's not let that spoil the vision.
