Egon's eye
« on: November 18, 2009, 04:30:20 PM »
With all the emphasis on the Christmas cooking strips featuring Egon – it just occurred to me that perhaps Roger knows how Egon lost his eye?

People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

My guess is that it's just a comic strip and the eye patch is simply a comedic prop to highlight the ineptitude of a fictitious chef, Diane, but hey, let's all wait with bated breath all the same.

How's the foot?
I apologise, in advance.

I call for Tarqs remarks (the whole reply) to be struck from the record: “just a comic strip” indeed!

I hope that Egon isn't sober enough to be reading this.  >:(

That's just the way I doodled Egon when he first appeared. Rob Baker may correct me, but I'm pretty sure there has never been an explanation for the missing eye.
On a similar note, it's only a few years since I discovered that Popeye has only one eye----although, granted, there's a bit of a clue in the name.

I'd be interested to find out how Custer got a camel's rectum for an eye.

Sarky Tarky can now de-bate his breath 'cos I can find no explanation to how Egon lost his eye. I think the only reference to it was made in this series from 1985:

Trivia Time.  Egon's first ever appearance was in a 6-strip series, with Beau, in 1979, when he spoke only one word.  Your starter for ten is:   What was that word?
Keep it clean...

Sadly, I've just looked it up. I won't tell, though.

That's not Custer. It's Charles de Rudio. You're such an idiot, Peeps.
