Pickled Eggs.
« on: December 03, 2009, 02:16:02 PM »
Sometimes, when I'm trying to think up ideas, my mind wanders off into some strange places. Today's destination was pickled eggs. I used to think these abominations were peculiar to Britain until I saw a jar of them sitting on Moe's bar in The Simpsons. I really can't work out the reason for their existence. Who in their right mind would sit in a bar, enjoy a beer or two with friends and suddenly think "What I need now is a cold, rubbery hard-boiled egg thet's been soaking in vinegar for two months"?
I await the backlash from the pickled egg perverts among you.

Sorry, Roger - can yo be more specific? Why wouldn't you like that?
I apologise, in advance.

Roger, I totally agree with you. They're disgusting. They also have an adverse affect on your spelling!   Sorry, Roger - can yo be more specific? Why wouldn't you like that?

Tarks is obviously from the 'hood - whatever that is....

Roger, I'm with you on this one, but then I find most vinegar-themed things a bit unpleasant, from mixed pickles (who would pickle a bonsai tree?) to chipsticks  ???

I don’t have a strong opinion on this issue.

They probably are leftover from the days when there was an abundance of eggs in the summer months and no refrigeration to keep them over the winter.
I say eat the eggs if you want, don’t if you don’t want.

(Now where do I pick up my Nobel Peace Prize?)

P.S. Is Zezty drinking beer out of a hospital pee bottle?

That reminds me. I've been trying to purchase a yo-yo for youngest grandchild. Anyone know where I can get one?

On a business trip, driving through Tennessee on my way to Nashville, I stopped for a "restroom break" at Loretta Lynn's Country Kitchen and Gifts. I did not wish to stop for lunch but on my way out of this in-the-middle-of-nowhere restaurant, I happened to take a look at some of the gift items. There were the usual junk souvenirs but something on a shelf caught my eye - literally. The sign said "Pickled People." Inside the jars were sock puppet dolls - at least two or three - in some sort of liquid. Disgusting!

I was going to use an Americanism to describe the location of the restaurant but realized that it was likely to be misinterpreted here.
