Talking of posts - there are 4 posts on the pitch in a football match. That's something I'm sure Mince will find interesting.

Depends on what you call posts. There are also two posts behind each goal to lift the net up so Ranger's keeper can get the ball out, and the four corner flags are posts.

They're stanchions.

Stanchions hold up posts. Posts hold up other stuff.
