Is everyone watching the game for the gold medal in hockey?

I'm not much into hockey but liked the ice dance and the curling.

If Canada wins they will sell lots of donuts at Tim Horton's tomorrow with little red maple leaf decorations sprinkled on top.  ;D

I thought I heard that this was all over.... and that the team that won went on a bender and were drinking beer out of the bottle and generally behaving in a 'laddish' way? Or was it just the girls' ice hockey team?

That was the womens team. I think the media's unspoken inference was that the drinking, the cigar-smoking and the missing teeth unavoidably identified them as lesbians.

"Gold medal lesbians"....no, "Prize winning...no, Champion...hmmm, if that was the inference then none of those are better.
You go girls, show them how real women celebrate. A victory over the U.S on the men's side to make the set, and a new record for gold medals won. I'm now feeling insufferably smug and superior, although it's not considered Canadian to show it.

There's always another, underlying story where the tabloid media is concerned. Raucous, rowdy women? If they're sportswomen they're lesbians, if they're not, they're sluts.

As far as the meeja is concerned, no matter what the year actually is, in their minds it's still around 1958 and Doris Day is the epitome of womanhood. Doris is a lesbian, of course, but that doesn't count because she has never frightened the horses with her gayness.

You might wonder why there's been a lot of shrieking headlines about the winter weather up there in the North. The underlying story there is that global warming (according to the meeja) is a scam designed by liberal scientists to stop them driving their SUVs to soccer games. Every snow shower is a nail in the pantywaist socialist egghead coffin.

Beau's inamorata is a lesbian? Does he know?

I was so pleased with how every group of people and type of artistic expression were showcased in the Olympic opening and closing shows. I loved how it went out with a bunch of young musical acts showing the future of Canada as vibrant and hip. Loved the scenes on the streets and in the bars and churches.

All in all it was really well done – even the bouquets were made by women in prison – everyone was included. And in what other country anywhere in the world could the police be part of the show and it not seem creepy?

I have a Canada buzz today.  ;D
