It is a bit worrying that Roger suggested 'Jedward' as my name as when we were in Paris I had a 'bad hair day' and Pat kindly pointed out that I looked like the aforementioned popstars(?). Needless to say I made sure that my hair (what is left of it that is!) was better behaved.

Where do you live, where were you born?
Not so sunny Edinburgh. Was born in St Andrews, Fife
What do you do to earn a living? Do you like what you do?
At the moment nothing! I joined a certain Scottish Bank in 1975 and worked there until March 2010 when they decided I was too expensive to employ. Fortunately I got early retirement but didn’t manage to negotiate a package on the scale of Fred Goodwin. I help out in the National Trust for Scotland Collections & Conservation workshop two days a week as a volunteer meantime until I get my act together and find another job.
What do you do to fulfill the artistic side of yourself?
I can‘t paint (unless it is walls and woodwork!) but enjoy photography and also annoy the neighbours by knocking the odd tune out on keyboard and organ.
What do you do to keep fit?
What’s ‘keep fit’? I do have a routine involving a bottle of wine in one hand and a corkscrew in the other, does that count? However, I do enjoy walking, and if petrol keeps going up I’ll be doing a lot more.

What do you do to make the world better?
Understand that there are all races/cultures/religions in this World, none of which are perfect. But unless we all decide to get on together we are going nowhere fast.
What books are currently on your nightstand?
I suppose I should say all the Beau Peep books, but actually it is ‘Vulcan Test Pilot’ by Tony Blackman. I’m a bit narked as I’ve got to page 106 and Mr Spock still hasn’t made an appearance...
Do you have a spouse, children, dogs, cats etc in your life?
Not got as far as tying the knot but I have a partner of some 15 years (Pat). No children but three moggies own us (Jack & Jill, both 17 years old and Sooty who was a stray but we think he is around 10).
Describe what, to you, would be a perfect weekend?
A longish lie, a fry-up for breakfast then a bracing walk in the Pentland Hills (only a couple of miles from where I live) followed by a relaxing meal with a bottle of wine. Repeat on Sunday but with maybe a walk along Portobello beach. All with Pat of course.
