Is it too early...
« on: April 26, 2011, 01:10:51 AM »
Now that we have Easter and Earth Day behind us, is it time to get excited about the Royal Wedding?  :)

I had planned on having a big do at our place, but found out my daughter is in dance competitions that day and Saturday so will hold off our Royal party until my Aunt comes over from the UK this summer.

I will bake crown shaped sugar cookies for the library and loan my Royal bunting to the library where they will be playing footage all day in the art gallery. One of the banks is putting on tea and scones.

Oh well, Jazz dance competitons must come before royal weddings.

People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

Yes, Camilla was shocked to find that Charles had been two-timing her; she wasn't the only woman who shared the royal bed! (I thought that was a civil wedding? I was referring to the one that happened when I was young enough to walk all the way from Maida Vale to Hyde Park to watch the fireworks!)

I was a policeman before I was a Peepman, done all the Royal weddings in London over the last 30 odd years,
what a lovely time they all were too.

So this one, I will be on the golf course, not looking for bombs or terrorists or Mad Pierres , or anything to be
fair, well a ball or two!

I would like it on record that my first Sergeant was actually called Dennis Pratt!

and he was a real Dennis.

My brother's wife's brother is named Dennis Pratt too. I only met him once when he came on holiday to Canada but he seemed like a nice enough fella.

I just read that there hasn't been a single street party application in Glasgow.  :o

I'll also be on the golf course when our beloved Prince gets hitched. In his honour, I'll try to shoot some birdies.

The only thing surprising about this is that you appear to be surprised by it, Peepsie.

Sorry - I meant to add...

There are a number of options to watch The Wedding on large screens near us, including our local church and the magnificent grounds of Powys Castle. We thought about it for a while, then abandoned the idea because neither my better half nor I could agree which venue would be least likely to evict us after we yell "DON'T DO IT!" in unison at the crucial moment.

So, on balance, we'll stay at home and watch paint dry.
I apologise, in advance.

I would love to go to Powys Castle for the do. Too bad we don't live closer - you could have took my kid to her jazz competition.

Sounds like a great trade-off to me, Diane. I love jazz!

Powys Castle is beautiful, and the gardens are truly magnificent. But we were there just last Saturday for a Easter egg hunt, and you can get too much of a good thing. And why spoil it with a Royal wedding?
I apologise, in advance.

I'm an avowed republican and Anti-Royal, and I wouldn't be looking at these two eejits getting hitched if you paid me. Problem is, as a Pom living in Oz, people immediately assume I'm a Monarchist.
I am a proud Briton, however, as well as a proud Scot, and I don't mind the Union Jack as a flag at all (though I'm not a flag waver as a rule) I just think it's time the Aussies removed it from THEIR flag, which to my mind would look better with just the six white stars on a blue background.
Anyway, them's me views and it would be a boring old world if we all thought the same, eh?

Diane - see if you can get over to the Isle of Bute this weekend. It's the annual Jazz Festival... http://www.butejazz.com/
