I am thinking of joining the Karate club.

That's a lot different from knitting, Diane, if you're thinking of therapeutic pursuits in your old latter years. You get thrown about and stuff. Join the Karaoke Club instead.

Pssst - she probably meant that, Peepsie.
I apologise, in advance.

The knitting is hard on the body - the forearm aches, there is a start of a blister on the left index finger - there is a stiffening of the neck and shoulders with all the tension of holding the needles and swearing - I am hoping that the karate will be easier.

All the pain will dissolve away as soon as you step up to the microphone, Diane.
I apologise, in advance.

Diane, I'm sorry to read all the problems you have from knitting. It sounds like you're holding the needles too tightly. Try to relax a little more.

Vulch, I have already had the bobble end come off one of my needles - the whole thing could have slid off that end when I wasn't looking. With every stich on the other end you wonder are you going to drag too many loops off along with the one you intend to. I don't know how people sit and watch TV while they do it!

But the good news is that knitting that looks like it is home made is currently in fashion and my daughter has been trying some of my knitting and thinks it's "fun" so we bought her some needles and wool yesterday. I will teach her everything I know.   :)

Did good at my first karate lesson on Monday - going back again tonight :-)

I learned two arm moves (with both arms) and one kick. THey did teach two more arm moves but I forget them. It is a mixed age class so I was teamed up with a very small 12 year old girl.

Let me know if you need anyone beaten up - reasonable rates.

And might I add that it is easier than knitting.

Yes, but those knitting needles can do a lot of damage to soft tissue!

She beats up one 12 year-old girl and she's already a hired assassin!
