It's the annual Custer quiz again.
« on: June 04, 2007, 11:05:32 PM »
I'm struggling.
Who was the photographer who accompanied the famous 1872 Grand Duke Alexis buffalo hunt?
In what year were the last government-issue Indian Wars Campaign badges struck?
My sad quest to complete this damn thing continues. Of the 20 questions, I've got 13 of them. I may be back.

I think the photographer was David Bailey.

If I can be of any more help, just ask.

People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

Well, I tried my 200 books AND google and still couldn't find it. I'm also trying to find the act of Congress that was approved on June 22, 1876. I cant find anything specific to that date but it may have had something to do with the right to bear arms----though I would have thought it would have a more direct relevence to Custer, given the name of the quiz.

I could only find the Indian Appropriations Act of June 22, 1874 so that is two year off.

It was three days before Custer's death, if that helps.

I am SO sorry! the date I should have given you is June 22 , 1866. I got confused with Custer's death in 1876. I apologise for the time you guys have wasted because of my stupidity.
