Two weeks from tonight...

...I'll be passing out in a hotel in Denver, Colorado, following a seven hour flight from Scotland to New York, a three hour stop-over there and another four hours to Denver. I reckon I'll arrive  there about 22 hours after getting up at home. After that, it's off to Montana, the Little Bighorn Battlefield and then Sheridan, Wyoming, to visit Fort Phil Kearny, site of the infamous Fetterman Fight. (Look it up---Fetterman made some rather extravagant claims about what he'd do to the Sioux Nation. Let's just say he failed).
Then it's off to Yellowstone Park or maybe Deadwood, South Dakota.
I will be eating Prairie Oysters (again, look it up) and drinking Budweiser.

Yes, sleeping on an airplane for 10 hours can be quite exhausting, I hear.

I can't believe you eat the prairie oysters - we just put them on the menu here in Alberta to make the tourists think we're tough.

Our dogs used to hang around to eat the paririe oysters in the old days, but most people these days go for using rubber band castration rather than using the knife. I suspect they are just selling you Swedish meatballs Roger.

Shame it's not downhill, that would knock off at least an hour I would think, have you considered booking a room as I would imagine passing out in the lobby of a hotel will only make you look a tad girlie.   Or you could just loosen your belt, I understand that works quite well.

Well, my work's all done and all that remains to do is listen to one more day of Brokeback Mountain jokes from my wife. (My travelling companion, Alan, and I have both steadfastly refused to watch the film. Whenever it's mentioned, we shuffle our feet and talk about sport in deep voices).
This time tomorrow, our plane should have just reached its crusing altitude as we head for Noo Yoik. After that, it's on to Denver for a couple of nights, before heading up to Montana.
I'll probably drop in here later today but, if not, I'll catch up with you all in nine or ten days. Then again, I might stumble across a Montanan bar with internet access and feel the need to bore you with tales from the Big Sky country. Yee-ha.
