All The President's Men...
« on: June 18, 2007, 01:01:20 PM »
Roger entertained us at the weekend with the incredible story about his encounter with President Bill Clinton in Montana whilst still in office. Naturally, I didn't believe a word of it. PAH!

This arrived in my inbox a short while ago. I have sought permissions from the highest level to post it here (I really hope you can see this, Malc). Roger is second from the left.

I sincerely hope that no-one on this board seeks to diminish the gravitas attached to this amazing evidence by turning it into a caption competition.

No, no, I'm serious.

Oh, all right then - if you must...

Hmm - no picture shows up for me! I'll have to add a caption to an imaginary one.

"I know you bought a round, Roger, but that was 17 years ago!"
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

I've changed the image host for both the above picture and the one I posted on the 'burning ears' thread. Hope everyone can see them now. Please let me know if anyone's having problems. I may not be able to fix it, but I can at least stamp my foot a lot.
I apologise, in advance.

How funny - I hadn't seen the photo, but my caption was entirely relevant!

I have the uncomfortable feeling that (in profile at least) Roger looks like ME!!
The guy in the stripey shirt looks like Kevin Spacey.

The guy in the striped shirt is my mate and fellow Custer-loonie, Alan. I've never noticed the Kevin Spacey thing before but, from that angle, you're right! I don't think I'll mention this to Alan--he's a six foot two, former Arbroath centre half who kicked strikers in the air for fun.

Clinton to Spacey: "It's good to see you hanging out with ordinary folk for once - no one famous."

Clinton to Spacey: "Your friend in profile looks like Roger Kettle. Send him the photo and then he can pretend he's met me."

Spacey to Clinton: "That would be fun. But are you saying that the President of the United States knows Roger Kettle?"

Clinton to Spacey: "I'm not the president. I just look like him."

Clinton: "Hilary - I TOLD you if you sat at the bar and drank too much you'd end up looking like a drunken Scotsman!"

"Is that a cigar in your pocket...?"

Astonishing, Malc - they even have the same shirt.
I apologise, in advance.

Don't you think the guy on the right looks like Roger De Courcey

Col, that's the American journalist who insisted we bluff our way into the restaurant/bar that Clinton was in. We'd met him earlier and he's a writer for Time magazine who goes by the name of Pat Dawson. (He's also an author, broadcaster and ace harmonica player). A lovely guy who I'm still in touch with. As far as I know, he's not a ventriliquist.
