The Christmas Competition....hmmm.
It's impossible to ignore what the recent kerfuffle on this site has done to both the atmosphere and the contributions. Most of our regulars have drifted away. About ten days ago, Rob Baker kindly posted about Beau Peep's 35th year in publication---something I have to admit that I'm rather proud of. There have been four responses. Two from the site administrator (thank you, Sandy!), one from me and one from my sister! Rob then went to the huge trouble of posting samples from five decades, showing the November 2nd (anniversary) strip of each year. There hasn't been a single response. I kind of get the feeling that, if the 35th anniversary of Beau Peep gets no response on the official Beau Peep site, then things are probably not as they should be.
Please don't get me wrong. I'm not in the slightest bitter about this. I'm both grateful and delighted about the amazing thirteen years this site has been around and I have made many friends because of it. Everything has a lifespan and it could well be that this place has reached the end of it. I hope not but, if so, it's been fun!
As for the Christmas Competition----as things stand, I'D probably win it!
Roger, without Beau Peep this is just a forum, there are millions out there, good God I'm even a member of a halogen oven forum.
However Beau Peep drew this motley crew together and we continue to this day thirteen years on.
We don't always post every day, and it won't always be about Beau or his longevity, however the Beau style of humour DOES bring us together.
I think it has moved on beyond that, it's now a group of strangers/friends who like to share whatever screwball ideas are in their minds at the time.
Mostly we are friendly to each other, although there will always be personality clashes, that's life.
I'll keep on as long as others do, it takes a few minutes to post or reply and I would miss it it if it folded.
NB no brain cells were destroyed in this post, the large glass of Shiraz afterwards may hurt a few.
Max.
