Fruit Flies
« on: September 28, 2016, 05:35:36 AM »
I have a mini composting bucket with lid in my kitchen that has been taken over by fruit flies - even though I keep spraying them. I feel like Egon when cooking in the kitchen now - quite embarrassing .

Yes, it does.

But seriously, don't tell Tarks. He hates flies. I had the same problem with my outside bin. I had to pressure wash it in the end.

Put a banana skin in a plastic sandwich bag, let the flies congregate inside, then close the top and squash. Repeat as required.

I apologise, in advance.

And, yes - I utterly detest flies. They don't even have to be plural.
I apologise, in advance.

A top-tip to get rid of flies from the kitchen:    Keep a bucket of sh*t in the living room.

Drosophila Melanogaster.

Sadly after 30ish years, I still remember their Latin name. We used to anaesthetise them and look at them under a microscope, in Biology. Fun times.

Walking around and clapping a lot is a symptom on fruit flies.

That is an innovative type of solution so often missing from the world today.
