That's very interesting, Peter. I'm sure you have some funny tales (no pun intended) to tell about dogs since your mother was a dog breeder.
My mom's friend decided to breed her registered Shiba Inus. Unfortunately, the woman didn't realize how much work and expense went into the breeding business. She thought all her dogs had to do was breed and the puppies would sell themselves right away. Naturally, this was not the case. She ended up selling two puppies for under the price she thought she would get, keeping one puppy which eventually had to be euthanized because of some degenerative disease, and six months later giving the other two puppies to family members. She had the female spayed and the male neutered shortly afterwards.
