Needless to say, I have been revelling in the daily development of my granddaughter. At 8 months old, she is, unquestionably, the most intelligent and gorgeous child ever born. That would suggest her genes have come from the maternal side.
At the other end of the spectrum, my mother-in-law passed away last week. A remarkable lady who would have been 101 years old at the end of this month. She had a wonderful, fulfilling life that included working on radar during the second world war. In her latter years, we tried to persuade her to talk about her life so that we could turn it into a book. She was reticent but once told me that she had come up with a title. "Delighted, love John". I was confused until she explained that her father was overseas when she was born and that was the telegram he sent to her mother. Just a great title. Anyway, she was a lovely woman and I'm fortunate to have known her.
And that, my friends, is life!
