No, really - I'd love to know.
I apologise, in advance.

It requires years of practice and dedication.

Is there something in particular that you are referring to?

I'm not saying I've mastered it to the degree that Tarquin has, but I'm getting there.

Possibly because he lived under the gooseberry bush too long before Peter found him.

It just seems to me that this board has moved from a Beau Peep Forum to one where everyone (well not really everyone) is trying to have a pop at other posters trying to bring them down.
It's really starting to get annoying now and it's only really started since mince came aboard.

It used to make me giggle at times reading some of the posts. Not now.
I see what some people (mince) write and I just think, whats the point.

Rant over.  >:(

Fair enough.

Well, actually, no - it isn't fair enough. Colin, you're perfectly entitled to your opinion, of course, and I'm sorry you feel the way you do. You can't please all of the people all of the time.

Here's my opinion for what it's worth, and I'm really narked you've pushed me to say nice things about Mincey - it doesn't come naturally. I don't know what this forum was like pre-Mince, other than a very brief period way back when I looked in for a spell. I enjoyed it then, but for whatever reason, I didn't stick with it (no reflection on the board - I've been through some strange times in recent years). I can't recall the exact reason why I dipped my toe in the Beau Peep forum waters again (probably something Peepsie alerted me to on another forum - he does occasionally evangelise for this board), but what I found was a cool, select and cosy bunch of people, and some very sharp wit....and I've been here ever since (this may or may not be a part of your problem, of course).

Mince works very hard at being annoying, and often keeps this board ticking over during dry spells. He also does it (in my opinion...and his) with great style. I enjoy that - others seem to enjoy that, and new people coming on board since I did appear to enjoy it also. Yes, there have been some manic posts, and some very esoteric threads, mostly in the Outpourings forum, where they belong, but it's certainly not compulsory to join in, nor ever held against anyone who doesn't.

And in tandem with the foolishness, there are two excellent other forums concentrating on Beau Peep issues as well as Horace issues. Of course, they also occasionally spill over into madness, but when you have a forum dedicated to comic strip genius, you can hardly expect (or want, surely?) everything to be po-faced and serious, can you? And if it were, how many would stick around?

Everyone has their own levels of tolerance and humour, and that's as it should be. And everyone who contributes to this board regularly has their own character. I love that about this place. I wouldn't want to lose anyone from here, not you, Colin, nor Mince.

Since you've singled him out in your self-confessed rant, allow me to do the same. This board, in my opinion, would be far poorer without his wit, and....well, let's leave it at wit, shall we?

Counter-rant over.  :-*

For once I agree with you Tarquin although it was very refreshing to get a serious debate going now and again when the little grey cells get stretched.

I really wasn't sure if you were joking, Colin, given the nature of this board. Like Tarquin, I don't know how this forum was before I joined it. Heck, I don't even know the personalities or inside jokes yet. But from what I can tell from reading some things, "Outpourings" is an off-topic section. Mince is attempting to liven up the forum with a little silliness. Perhaps he is merely letting off a little steam from having to deal with kids all day. Another more likely possibility is that his students are sending him subliminal messages via their homework that say "Be like us; act like us." Whatever. A little goofiness never hurt anyone.

Then again, I always think some drama, fights and conflicts are good for entertainment purposes, too. But what do I know.

Eloquently put, Tarquin. I'd probably miss whatisname, er..., hang on... er, Mincey, if he left the forum. Maybe his wit is a little alien to a few, but I appreciate it. He suddenly appeared, did a lot to help move this forum, and the website, forward, not least by automating the weekly strip changes - which allowed me a lie-in on a Sunday morning!

We'll just give him a final warning...  ;D
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

As Mince says, Fair enough.

However, looking back at the posts, Mince seems to have been here since just before Christmas 2006.
I can see where he's started silly threads, and other people have joined in or the thread has died a stunningly silent death.
I can see where there has been a technical problem and he's put in a fair amount of effort to give of his knowledge (which seems considerable!) so that the problem is solved.
I can also see where he's asked probing questions, presumably to gain more of an insight into his fellow posters - maybe just for spurious interest - whatever!

Mince seems to be on this board a great deal and seems to like to throw in a multitude of subjects - by the law of averages, some of it is not going to be to everyone's taste. Most of the posters, at some time or other, have a little pop at each other. It seems to be a way of letting off steam from the harsh realities of life.

As the late, great Kenny always said: It's all in the best possible taste!

This is NOT a rant - but be warned: I AM the fat lady, and I'm not ready to sing. ;D
