Hello there.
« on: Today at 10:31:29 AM »
Apologies for my long absence. You know the old saying---if it's not one thing, it's another...
My sister is back in hospital. After being in severe pain since the middle of November, she was finally taken in for an x-ray and scan. This has revealed that the plate that was inserted to mend her broken hip has been constantly rubbing on the bone. I can't begin to comprehend how she managed to cope with that. All it takes to floor me is a bout of the sniffles. Talking about that, I was hit by another bug and ended up feeling crap and losing my voice for a week. I thought it best not to complain to my sister.
I've just realised that this year sees the tenth anniversary of Beau Peep coming to an end (after 38 years, I think) so it's also the tenth anniversary of me becoming an ex-cartoonist. I have no regrets. I had a good career. Looking back over the years when I was writing Beau Peep, A Man Called Horace and Andy Capp, I'm just relieved I managed to retain my sanity. Well, most of it.
Okay, that's all for now. Hopefully, a degree of normality will return and I will pop in here more often. Be safe in this increasingly crazy world!

Does this mean that DL is waiting for a correcting surgery?  Send her our best wishes.

I once lost my voice, it was quit humbling. Now that you have retired do you still not have funny thoughts go through your head that you wish you could make into strips?

Its been a very long winter, still a foot of snow on the ground - hard to believe that kids will be playing soccer in only a month and this snow will finally be gone.

These past months I have been lost in the world of Westeros, after watching a Knight of the Seven kingdoms, I finally got around to watching the first two seasons of The House of the Dragon for the first time, then I read "Fire & Blood" and "The Rise of the Dragon". Now I am back re-watching GoT. It is a shame this doesn't translate into life skills.

People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad
