He sees her at the end at a funeral for her parents: he nods; she sighs in relief and mouths a thank you, and he waltzes off like some kind of mysterious guardian angel.

I must have blinked and missed that bit (I was in Toronto during the summer: it was too hot to go out: I'd gotten fed up with all the infommercials.... ), I remember all the above except where the husband had a double.
