What present did you receive that you were genuinely glad to get?

I got a suitcase with pull-up handle and wheels and I couldn't be happier!
Scene: Chicago airport, September 2006.
My friend glides the two miles from terminal to terminal, whistling as he goes and joyously wheeling his belongings behind him. Fifty yards behind, I wheeze along with two arms wrapped round a ten-stone suitcase.
Roger Kettle: Gliding smugly in an airport near you soon.

My son got me Corner Gas season 4  ;D

People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

As did I, Colin - although mine is a legitimate business expense and will be used solely for that purpose, naturally.

My bestest present is to go sky-diving. At Milton Keynes.
I apologise, in advance.

Can't believe anyone (as recently as 2006) had luggage without wheels! I'm pretty sure they don't MAKE it without wheels nowadays, and you can even buy wheels to strap on.

When every airport has mile after mile of travelators, spirals, mazes and corridors, and no major airport consists of just one terminal, you gotta have wheels!

The next step is to have motorized luggage, that putt-putts or hums alongside you. Even RIDE-ON luggage, now there's a gap in market... Hi ho Samsonite - AWAY!

Oh and as far as presents go, for the second time in a row, my wife has bought me a CD I can take or leave, certainly not one I identify with or care about.
The first was the Eagles compilation for my birthday, and this latest was a Van Morrison Best Of.

I actually already have them, as there have been innumerable "Best Of" compilations from both of these artists, and though I'm not against the artists concerned, I've certainly never dropped hints that a Van The Man album was my preferred gift this year. When I opened the Eagles prezzie, there was a hush around the room as my sons held their heads in their hands.
"Mmm...Thanks" says I
"I TOLD you to get The Who, mum!" says Ciaran.

I'm sure she's trying to tell me something.

I got her a silver and gold pen engraved with her name and two hearts. I'm going to get my girlfriend something nice too, when I get a girlfriend, which will be soon.

The best way to get a prezzie you really want is to get it yourself. Will you get your girlfriend  in the sales?

If it means I have to camp out all night on the pavement and tussle with a thousand other shoppers, no.

Otherwise maybe. To be quite honest I'm not fussy. I might get one on eBay.

Don't bother. They just turn up on your doorstep and shout "?6.50? Is that all I'm worth!"

Birds can be unpredictable. I once took several photos of myself, selected and printed off the one that caught my looks best, mounted it in a frame, and gave it to a bird as a Christmas present. (I wrote "God's Gift" on the wrapper to show my sense of humour, too). I thought it looked really good. It was a cheap frame, but had a gold-effect.

I've got a different bird now, by the way. This was a couple of years back.

I was bought a captains chair.
At my age you have to tell them what you want or you get shower gel by the ton.
As I don't use shower gel it is used by my wife.
Did get Bobby Charltons biography again I asked for it.

One good thing about forums like this is that you often don't know what other members look like, or smell like...

Soap has worked for over sixty years. I think I will stick with it.
