Catchphrases.

As I write, there is a programme on Channel 4 about comedy catchphrases. Now, as far as I know, I've never really had one in Beau Peep. Any suggestions?

There are "catchphrases", but I think those catchphrases are actually "repeated scenarios".

Nomad writing to publishers; Dennis buying rubbish from Abdul; Egon serving culinary disasters; Snoopy fighting the Red Barron on his kennel etc.

Roger, why not use catch phrases from your own life: "Where am I?", "Who am I?", "Is this left or right?"

A catch phrase needn't be a long or particularly pithy thing.
Charlie Brown's was "good grief..."

I used to have a couple in Blacknose. One was "give me strength..." another was "Gordon Bennet.." but I suspected that many wouldn't get the latter, it was a bit old.

I used to hear women say "I'll swing for him/her" which didn't mean anything fruity, just that someone had made you so angry you'd kill them (and then be hanged for it).

OK, catch phrases for Beau Peep: How about one of the tuaregs or Abdul using "By the Beard Of Jabul!!" to express anger, or some other odd Arab-sounding name.

Dennis could say: "who's Jabul"?

Beau: "his wife"

I can't imagine Prince Philip would ever have used that expression. You probably misheard him, Diane. It's more likely to have been, "There's a hand in my Y-fronts".

The programme also touched on made-up swearwords like "naff" and "feck". I'd quite like to come up with one myself or, better still, I'd like to hear what you lot can come up with. Now fronk off and think about it.
