Roger's Contribution
« on: February 10, 2008, 06:21:22 PM »
Roger, in another topic, stated that he was the least funny contributor to this site, a comment that, by itself, seems throwaway, but on closer reflection, and given that the vast number of people who post on this board, a board that until recently, or at least until very recently, has become close to the most, if not the most, and probably in some strange way, what with the enthusiasm for Beau Peep shown here not only in this forum but also, in an odd way, which I suppose as they say there you are.

Your response is the first post on this thread that I've understood, Roger.
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

I walked into my English class some 35 years ago, with my pal, Scott Chisholm, to see the word EUPHEMISM chalked on the board in big, bold letters and underlined.

Scott looked at it thoughtfully, before declaring, "That's that mercy killing, isn't it?".

And you know, it's suddenly dawned on me after all these years, in a funny sort of way, he was right.
I apologise, in advance.

That tag line fits almost any story involving oneself, one other and a misunderstanding.

"I even had to go to the barber shop with my daughter Amy in tow because she was such a daddy's girl. My mate Bob said "Hello Ivy", and it's suddenly dawned on me after all these years, in a funny sort of way, he was right.
