Jings!  Totally overwhelmed !  It's sooo much fun being an OAP...even Mr Darling made my day by announcing I'm to get ?250 this December towards fuel costs..not sure about the other ?1200 needed annually to keep this modest mansion vaguely warm

Was it an '0' or a '5' birthday? I took an '0' retirement and I was also pleased about getting the ?250 winter fuel supplement (not so pleased that it's only for this year and next year it goes back to ?200).

Have you had your tax demand in yet? I received mine on my 60th birthday, before I'd even received my pension!

It was an '0'.  Tax demand?  I'm still working so waiting to see what I'm actually left with at the end of this month :-\

Apparently, the tax department work out how much the pension department are giving you, calculate how much you should be able to live on, then tax you on the difference. Which means, of course, you need to keep a little by each week so that come December when the tax demands/advertising come flooding through your door/inundate your TV programmes, you have enough to pay your legal obligations.

Why the two departments can't get together and just give you a pension THEY reckon you can live off.....

It's great having really old people on here. Makes me feel young and invigorated. It's the weekend too. No wonder I'm in a good mood.
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

Failing eyesight, onset of deafness, short-term memory loss...why wouldn't they?
I apologise, in advance.

Yes, Peeps. 'Hip' goes with perpetually young blokes who use quaint words like 'birds' and 'bints' when referring to the female of the species; the same words that the young teddy boys used to use when I was a girl.

Well, I'm no longer needed. Vulture insults better than me.
