There's nothing under the picture in my post, other than a small signature that mentions "Mince". (It's not the Scottish meaning of the word, as in "rubbish"; it refers to the bloke who's the caretaker on here). Mind you, on second thoughts...

Peepmaster is the tea lady.

We also call him marshmallow.

Mince, make up your mind; I thought you said his name was 'crumble'!

Tony, I've spoken to a friend in Dalwhinnie who remembers your Dad working in the hotel in Newtonmore---I'm afraid it still escapes me. It's probable that I didn't really know him very well but gave him the cartoon on one of my trips up North (I haven't lived there for 30 years). Anyway, I'm glad you found your way here!

I have a time-share week in Aviemore I bought in 1987, if that's of any relevance?

And I used to play shinty for Tayforth Camamanachd, as well as my secondary school team. I was once knocked unconscious in Kingussie when my head intercepted a caman (shinty stick) in full swing. It was entirely my fault; I also played a lot of football at the time, and I momentarily forgot which game I was playing and attempted to header the shinty ball in mid flight...just as one of my opponents was tacking a full-blooded swing at it. I recall coming around a few moments later, and being very concerned that my gushing blood was ruining their nice green pitch.

After a fruitless search in the village for a doctor, I actually returned to the pitch to rejoin the game. For a very brief spell, I enjoyed great freedom on the ball, my unfortunate marker (who had initially thought he'd killed me apparently) being too scared to tackle me in case I was stupid enough to repeat my earlier folly. We were both teenagers - I do hope he recovered enough to enjoy a reasonable playing career after that. Eventually though, I had to come off again, when I started seeing three balls on the pitch. The worst thing was that they were taking the school sports photographs the following day, and mine was the only face in the shinty team picture covered in Elastoplasts.

Anyway, I digress. Welcome, madjock!
I apologise, in advance.

I dont know if I'm allowed to post the address of a web site on here, but its to do with Aviemore and how it used to be like in the hay days of the 70's and 80's.  If not I will pm everyone with the site address, because even if you have never been to Aviemore before, its still a great site to look at. And for those of us lucky enough to visit Aviemore, when it was still a nice place to visit, im sure you will enjoy recalling those hazy crazy days of the ice rink and such. : :D ;D

And thanks for the warm welcome from everyone. :)

I've been through Aviemore a couple of times. It is rather commercialised now, I have to admit, but not in an unpleasant way. You can post the link if you want MJ.

Mince don't scare me none, either...hello Madjock.  I'm Roger's much older sister (before he says it) and Hutcheson's did all the plumbing work for us when our fmaily had the Grampian in Dalwhinnie..it's a small world...and speaking of Aviemore, I had my 21st family dinner in one of the hotels there when the centre was brand new  :o

Thanks for the welcome Diane and Diamond. I actually lived in Newtonmore Diane, but often went through to Aviemore on a weekend with my parents. Was the Grampian anywhere near the distillery, as I used to go to school with one of the lads who's father ran the place (stronach I think his name was). I left the area in October 1990, and have been longing to go back, but after speaking to a few of my old friends, the idea is becoming less and less attractive.  But maybe I will visit with my wife and kids sometime just to show them what they are missing. :D ;D
