There is another way that involves the registry, but it's probably going to be too much.

The command I asked you to enter needs to be entered exactly as given. What did the black box say once you pressed ENTER?

Your only other option is to restore the computer to factory settings (but you need to back up any documents and emails first), or take the laptop to someone who can do it for you.

If you post it to me, I will do it for you.

Once I pressed "enter", the black box said nothing. I was expecting some kind of final instruction.
I'll probably do what I normally do...ignore it and hope it goes away. Obviously, I'm still accesssing the site and, at the moment, it's only mildly annoying. Thanks for your help and I'll get back to you if things worsen.

Of course, if you have more than one hard drive, you might want to try: CHKFAT32 /x C: D:

Click on My Computer and open it. You should see a C Drive and, if you have more than one drive, a D: drive.

It does not matter, though. Just type the C: D: command and your computer will ignore the D: if you don't have one, though it seems to be ignoring everything anyway.

This tells me that CHKFAT32/xC is not a recognised command. Can I please go to bed now?

If you both have Msn Messenger , you could ask for remote assistance from Mince, Roger. That way Mince could look at your computer from his and try to find out what exactly the problem is ;D

But would that also give him access to all of Roger's dodgy folders containing pictures of Ralphie Milne's thighs?
I apologise, in advance.

Hopefully Roger has then passworded, so that only a "select" few can access them :D

If Roger could work out how to password something on his computer, then he could work out how to fix the problem he has at the moment.

I certainly wouldn't let Mince have access to MY computer; he's way too sneaky!
