More Great Indian Names.
« on: June 09, 2008, 09:01:08 PM »
While researching my annual Custer quiz, I came across another great Indian name---"Finds-Them-And-Kills-Them".
I like this. It suggests someone who doesn't mess about. The surprising thing is that the name didn't belong to some powerful Sioux warrior. It belonged to a Crow transvestite.

His brother is "Find-Them-And-Hugs-Them-And-Pets-Them".

I know I go on about this but we could really learn from Native American culture. Let's face it, when we're introduced to a "Bob", we have no idea what this person is like. If we're introduced to "Finds-Them-And-Kills-Them", we can hazard a guess about their personality. I think everyone on this site should have an Indian name.
I would, obviously, be "Beautiful-Man-Who-Writes-Funny-Things".
Diane would be "Woman-Who-Scares-Moose-From-Land".
My sister would be "Watches-Diamond-In-Rain".
Malc would be "Comes-From-Land-Down-Under".
Mince would be---er---why don't we come up with suggestions for the rest of you?

I want to change mine to be more clear:

Diane would be "Woman-Who-Scares-Moose-From-Land-because-she-be-mighty-warrior-with-snowballs-not-because-she-be-mighty-ugly".
People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

I'm flattered to be named after a song from the 80s, but I prefer He-Shoots-He-Scores, or Baffles-Opponents-With-Silky-Skills.

Or something.

I still think of myself as British, not from a land down under so much as residing there.
Trying to get that distinction over in an Indian name would seem to be a bit clunky.

Mine could be  Sits-on-bum-all-day-talking-to-stupid-people-with-no-idea-what-they-want.

I should explain my sister spent last Thursday in torrential rain at Hampden Park, Glasgow while Neil Diamond strummed his three chords.

Good job he dosn't have four four chords, or there could be a lot of broken hips.

According to my sources, Malc, Got-Left-Foot-And-Another-One would be more apt.
I apologise, in advance.
