Jeez, there's some rubbish talked about greatest goals. The Brazilian goal in that clip is the far superior goal, no question.

If you want to see the greatest goal scored in an international, just type "Nelinho v italy" into You Tube"

Greatest Scottish player ever? Jimmy Johnstone. Most underrated Scottish player? Gary MacAllister. Most overrated Scottish player? Charlie Nicholas.

Most underrated Man U player ever? Denis Irwin.
Most overrated Man U player ever? Brian Robson

Greatest player of all time?

Just looked at "Nelinho v italy". I hate to tell you son, but Wattie Carlyle was doing that every week for United back in the '60s.

Is it Pele? No.
Is it Maradona? No
Is it George Best? No.

It's that wonderful Dutchman, Johann Cruyff. If you have any doubts, check out his stuff on You Tube. No-one with the exception of maybe Jinky or Paul Gascoigne ever came close.

What did Johann Cruyff the wonderful Dutchman sing then?
People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

Does that mean we have to all take turns to laugh at you again?

Of course!
"All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down" is a horrible Country/Pop song. I love it and would post it on here but my finger's hurting again.

At the risk of further abuse, I also like "A Little Bit Is Better Than Nada" by the Texas Tornados.

Thanks, Nige. Actually, I do like that song AND the Texas Tornados one I mentioned. Feel free to stick that up as well---I can handle the abuse.
I made an effort to do this myself but, because my laptop was knackered for a while, I was having to re-register and this wasn't going well. I WILL DO THIS ONE DAY!!!

It's weird but, as I was growing up, I was into bands like The Who, The Kinks and stuff like that. (I still love them). Now that I'm older, I seem to be seem to be veering towards Country/Cajun music. Please shoot me before I get to Des O' Connor.

... it was actually Fenwick (o.g.) who scored the so-called Goal Of The Century (Fenwick is never likely to claim it).

Sorry, I need to take this thread back again momentarily (I shan't keep you long). Malc, I've seen that goal hundreds of times and marvelled at it with each one. Of course, it's more about the route to goal than the final kick, but I scoffed when I read the above, and instantly wrote it off as McGookin-goes-controversial bluff and bluster.

I've watched it another couple of dozen times since then, from all the available angles, and **** me, you're right! It was Fenwick's desperate lunge that connected with the ball a split second before Maradonna followed through with his own leg. I'm absolutely staggered and stunned by this, and in an odd sort of way, I probably feel more cheated than Peter Shilton did after Diego's first goal.

Sorry - back to Roger's dodgy taste in music.

I apologise, in advance.

Tarks, the only way to be a successful professional curmudgeon is never to curmudge just for curmudging's sake. I have been banging on about Fenwick's o.g. for donkey's years, but only now has You Tube been available to back me up.

I remember the incident as I was watching the game and I was convinced Maradona would dive as Fenwick caught him. He didn't need to, as he saw the ball go in he decided to celebrate like it was his, the little....cheat.

Back on the subject. I am going to watch this Texas Tornadoes video and then curmudge to my heart's content.
