I know Andy Capp is published all over the world, and, (as I've mentioned before), I was delighted to be able to see it in Manila daily newspapers while on my travels in the Philippines. What puzzled me, in this instance, was that the strip had any appeal to filipinos. (I'm assuming that the paper wouldn't include it in their comic pages if they didn't enjoy it).
The characters are very English; Andy's into football, which is a sport that gets next to no coverage there; and I don't recall ever seeing any foreign characters in the strip. I'm delighted, of course, but am I right to be mystified?
