Title: Examples Of Good Writing
Post by: Malc on December 25, 2008, 03:34:55 AM
I was just watching The Simpsons and an example of great comedy character writing jumped out.

Lisa has persuaded her family to begin recycling the household waste.

Lisa: Mom, you're mixing polyurethane with polyethelene!

Homer: MA-ARGE!

My two boys laughed out loud. There was no boom-tish gag there, just the writer using established characters as tools.

Anyone else got a favourite character comedy moment they can remember? As opposed to a good stand-up line, I mean?
