Title: Baking
Post by: Diane CBPFC on February 02, 2009, 08:34:36 PM
I decided to delve into the fine arts of the domestic goddess once again.

I have an old fashioned dough bucket - you stick your ingrediants in and turn a handle at the top like the pioneers used to do.

Last Monday I made 4 doz cinnamon buns and three loaves of bread. This Monday I have made 2 doz large apple danishes; two 14" thin crust pizzas and four loaves of bread. I wonder what I will make with my dough next Monday...any suggestions?

Because I've been 'snowed-in' all day, I baked a large cinnamon and raisin loaf and a new recipe for white bread. I'm having difficulty getting a wholemeal loaf to rise properly - I'll have another try tomorrow.

What's this 'dough bucket' - is it a non-electric breadmaking machine?

Wow. Can you make.. er.. fish, I mean figures, of pilch.. people out of your dough, Diane? Not to stick pins into, you understand, (although one could I suppose). Maybe to bite the heads off, or devour... for a party, or celebration kind of thing...

Yes it is non-electric - I thought the part about the Pioneers would have given that bit away. All it is, is a bucket with a dough hook that is attached to the top with a handle that you turn - it is not very big only about 12" high and 12" in diameter and yet it will make enough dough for six large loaves of bread. I once saw one in cast iron in the tourist Fort Normandeau near Red Deer - that was how the Mounties got their toast.

That is an excellent idea Peepsie - if you ever get rid of the Pilchard, I will make the celebratory effigy buns.

We don't have blackbirds Roger - can one substitute with Ravens?

Forget Blackbird Pie.

Maybe Mince can send you his explanation of the equation regarding a mathematical constant whose value is the ratio of any circle's circumference to its diameter in Euclidean space.

Then you'd have Pilchard Pi
